Compare related, up-sell and cross-sell products in Magento

There are a few key product relation types in Magento, and where they appear in the storefront depends on the responsibility of each.

Related products

Related products show up directly on the product detail page. These are items that complement the current product but aren't necessarily used together. Think of a camera and a photography book. They are related, but independent purchases.
