Set different thinking modes in Claude Code

Claude Code can reason through problems before responding. This means it works through the logic internally first, then gives you a more thought-out answer.

For anything beyond simple tasks, this almost always produces better results depending upon which model you are using.

Reasoning levels

Claude Code watches for specific trigger words in your prompts:

• think (low reasoning)

• think harder (medium reasoning)

• ultrathink (high reasoning)

Which one you use depends on the complexity of your task.
