Install Magento sample data in Docker
Learn how to install sample data to populate a development site with realistic content for testing and experimentation.
Lesson Content
After installing docker-magento, the development site has a blank homepage with very little content. Sample data gives you real products, categories, and CMS content to work with while you experiment with the codebase.
From the project root, deploy the sample data modules:
bin/magento sampledata:deployThis downloads the Composer dependencies required by Magento’s sample data modules and loads them into the project.
When that finishes, run the setup upgrade command:
bin/magento setup:upgradeThe setup scripts can take a little while to complete. Wait for the command to finish before continuing.
Finally, refresh the frontend of your development site. After a few moments, you’ll see the sample CMS content, categories, and products.
